The project aims to build the capacity for Marine Protected Area (MPA) management within MECDM and at key geographic sites. The goal is to acquire the core knowhow in MPA management that will lead to further development of MPA/LMMA in country.

The project aims to build up the coastal communities’ vulnerability profile. It also intends to get data (exposure, sensitivity adaptive capacity) from the vulnerability and adaptation assessments to inform the national, provincial and community stakeholders on strategic planning for climate change adaptation. Furthermore, the project aims to identify and rank the most vulnerable areas to prioritise resource allocation.

The primary goal of the project is to acquire data on CBRM initiatives, coastal habitats and inshore fish stocks that currently do not exist within the country.
Beneficiaries: The project will assist Government and practitioners alike, particularly the Solomon Islands Locally Managed Marine Areas (SILMMA) Network, for planning and monitoring of implementation of CBRM activities in the country against the NPoA.
