Second Part of CT Day Webinar highlights role of women in marine conservation

Indonesia, June 2020- The month long celebration of #coraltriangle day continues.

 

The CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat conducted a webinar that recognized and showcased the women who are leading marine conservation and sustainable use of the Corral Triangle resources

 

Sharing their expertise and experiences were Dr. Arlene Satapornvanit, Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries Section, Asia Fisheries Society; Ms. Fenny Wong Nyuk Yun, Malaysia's Ministry of Environment and Water; Ms. Ruth Konia, The Nature Conservancy Papua New Guinea; Ms. Chelcia Gomese, WorldFish Solomon Islands; and Ms. Alda Sousa Lemos da Rosa, Timor-Leste Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

 

Dr. Mohd Kushairi Mohd Rajuddin, Executive Director of the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat in his welcome remarks noted that CTI-CFF’s Women Leaders’ Forum (WLF) Working Group

has been very active in the field of Marine Conservation for about a decade now in the Coral Triangle region. He said that WLF last year successfully produced a Competency Model

Resources and Modules for training of women in marine conservation applicable within Coral Triangle and globally. It has a new Roadmap to be integrated with the draft RPOA 2.0 and has great plans for several years ahead. The WLF is in the process of engaging a Gender Equity

Social Inclusiveness (GESI) consultant to assist the CTI-CFF in the implementation of GESI by 2021.
