About This Event

The goal of the USAID Sustainable Fish Asia (SUFIA) project is to improve the management of marine biodiversity and fisheries resources in the Indo-Pacific region by reducing unsustainable fishing and IUU fishing. Two activities under the SUFIA Project, namely Local Capacity Development (LCD) and Technical Support (TS) are working together to support the Women Leaders’ Forum (WLF) of the Coal Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF) in organizing regional virtual events.

Objectives of the workshops:

Event 1: Socializing and Developing Guidelines for CTI-CFF GESI PolicyImplementation (May 24)

 Disseminate and provide an overview of the CTI-CFF GESI Policy to CTI-CFFmembers and partners

 Develop a draft of the operating guidelines on how to implement the CTI-CFFGESI Policy

Event 2: WLF Learning Exchange on Addressing and Coping with COVID-19 inthe Coral Triangle Region (May 25)

 Share experience and insights on how women in the fisheries sector in the CoralTriangle region are impacted by the pandemic and how they are coping with it.

 Identify areas and key issues that require immediate actions by governments,regional agencies, private sector and civil society. Connect participants to learn from each other and agree on working together onidentified actions.Expected Outputs and Impact:

 CTI-CFF members and partners become aware of the CTI-CFF GESI Policy andcan implement the policy in their programs and activities. Guidelines on CTI-CFF GESI policy implementation for members and partners touse as reference are developed.

 Participants are aware of the similarities and differences of gender-related issuesin the Coral Triangle region because of the pandemic. Key areas and issues that require immediate actions by governments, regionalagencies, private sector and civil society are identified.

 A cooperative action plan to be drafted and proposed to stakeholders to addressareas and key issues that they can work together on towards gender equity inthe fisheries sector, and building back better.

 A communication product (infographic) highlighting learning exchange outcomes.

 Workshop Reports documenting the proceedings of both workshops.
